Field service engineer – Medical&Laboratory Equipment

Description

Job Purpose:
Ensures the installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as technical support for the medical and laboratory equipment in the company’s portfolio. The role involves both hands-on technical work at the employer’s premises and occasionally at client sites, as well as in-depth technical research for equipment newly added to the portfolio.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensures the installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance, and service interventions for the medical and laboratory equipment in the company’s portfolio;
  • Occasionally performs technical interventions and service activities at client sites – depending on the specifics of the equipment;
  • Analyzes and studies the technical documentation for the equipment prior to interventions and installations;
  • Maintains contact with suppliers/manufacturers for technical clarifications and the resolution of any issues that arise;
  • Diagnoses technical faults and identifies the optimal repair solutions;
  • Carries out preventive and corrective maintenance operations in accordance with the manufacturers’ procedures and recommendations;
  • Configures and verifies the functioning of the equipment and associated software applications;
  • Trains end users on the correct and safe use of the installed equipment;
  • Prepares the documents and reports related to service, installation, and maintenance activities;
  • Enters and updates relevant information in the internal record-keeping/service systems;
  • Monitors the condition of the installed equipment and provides technical support to clients when needed;
  • Participates in technical training programs organized by manufacturers or the employer;
  • Continuously keeps up to date on new products, technologies, and solutions in the field.

Candidate profile

Mandatory Requirements

  • Completed higher education in a technical field: medical engineering, bioengineering, electronics, electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, biotechnology, or related fields;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar technical role;
  • Solid technical knowledge of medical and/or laboratory equipment;
  • Very good ability to perform technical analysis, diagnosis, and identification of technical solutions;
  • Good documentation skills and the ability to understand complex technical documentation;
  • Good PC operating skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), software application installation, operation of ERP-type software (e.g., SAP, Oracle);
  • Intermediate to advanced level of English (use of technical documentation and communication with suppliers); German is an advantage;
  • Category B driver’s license and availability for occasional travel;
  • Very good communication and client-relationship skills;
  • An organized, proactive, responsible, detail-oriented person, with initiative and a solutions-oriented mindset;
  • Good ability to adapt to new requirements, equipment, and technologies.

 

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Solid practical skills in the electrical and mechanical fields.
  • Knowledge of using electrical measurement and testing instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Good PC operating skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), software application installation, operation of ERP-type software (e.g., ASIS, SAP, Oracle).
  • Advanced organizational ability and attention to detail, with rigorous documentation of the work performed.
  • Proactivity, a self-taught spirit, and a constant orientation toward results and continuous learning.
  • Team spirit, very good communication skills, and tact in dealing with other people.

 

Job Specifics

  • The role involves occasional travel to client sites for installations, inspections, and technical interventions, predominantly for laboratory equipment;
  • Some laboratory equipment may have a higher degree of technical complexity and require prior research and preparation before interventions/installations;
  • The role combines hands-on work at the company’s premises and in the field at client sites with technical analysis and documentation activities.
