Forklift Operator / Material Handler

Department: Warehouse / Storage

Role Purpose

Ensures the safe handling of goods and the efficient flow of materials between the warehouse, receiving, shipping, and production areas by operating the company’s front forklifts, in strict compliance with ISCIR and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operating the company’s front forklifts;
  • Safely handling, lifting, and transporting pallets, raw materials, subassemblies, and finished products;
  • Complying with the maximum load capacity and technical instructions of the equipment;
  • Using the equipment exclusively for professional purposes and according to its intended use;
  • Loading and unloading goods from/to trucks;
  • Ensuring the correct and safe positioning of goods in transport vehicles;
  • Visually checking the integrity of packaging during handling and reporting any damage;
  • Respecting stacking rules regarding weight, stability, and material compatibility;
  • Applying FIFO/FEFO principles according to warehouse supervisors’ instructions;
  • Efficiently organizing goods to ensure safety and easy access;
  • Supplying internal production areas according to received requests;
  • Carrying out material transfers between company warehouses when necessary;
  • Ensuring the continuity of the material flow to prevent production bottlenecks;
  • Supporting inventory processes through organized arrangement, controlled movements, and counting;
  • Participating in identifying and clarifying stock discrepancies;
  • Maintaining organization and traceability of materials;
  • Collaborating with receiving, shipping, and warehouse stock managers;
  • Promptly communicating any nonconformities or situations that may affect the logistics flow;
  • Performing daily checks of the forklift before use (visual and functional inspection: forks condition, hydraulic system, wheels, brakes, steering system, signaling devices, fuel level/battery charge, etc.);
  • Completing daily inspection forms when required, according to internal procedures;
  • Refueling the forklift or replacing/charging batteries according to technical instructions;
  • Maintaining the forklift in proper working order and cleanliness;
  • Immediately reporting any malfunctions, anomalies, or incidents to the direct supervisor;
  • Refraining from using the equipment if defects that may affect safety are identified;
  • Operating the forklift in accordance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation;
  • Strictly complying with applicable ISCIR technical requirements and regulations;
  • Using personal protective equipment in accordance with internal regulations;
  • Respecting internal traffic rules for machinery within the company premises;
  • Participating in OHS, fire safety (PSI), and technical training organized by the company;
  • Immediately reporting any risk situation or workplace incident.

Candidate profile

Qualification Requirements:

  • Secondary education (minimum 8–10 grades or vocational school);
  • Valid ISCIR authorization for forklift operation (mandatory);
  • Attention to detail, quality, and precision in execution;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a production environment focused on deadlines and quality standards;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating front forklifts;
  • Experience in a warehouse or industrial environment – an advantage;
  • Experience in handling various materials (pallets, equipment, bulky components) – an advantage.

Desired Competencies and Skills:

  • Knowledge of stacking rules (weight, stability, load balancing);
  • Knowledge of FIFO / FEFO principles;
  • Basic knowledge of daily forklift technical checks;
  • Understanding of safety rules regarding the handling and transport of goods;
  • Ability to understand goods-related documentation (delivery notes, consumption slips, transfer notes).
