Supplier Quality Engineer

Description

Role Purpose

Ensuring the compliance of materials and components supplied by third parties by efficiently managing complaints from production/incoming/workshops, implementing corrective and preventive actions, monitoring supplier performance, and collaborating with internal departments to support continuous quality improvement.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supplier complaint management

• Immediate recording of supplier-related nonconformities – analysis of complaints from production/warehouse/workshops.

• Internal communication to the relevant parties (production, procurement, internal quality).

• Physical isolation of nonconforming materials, proper labeling, and system blocking.

• Formal initiation of the complaint to the supplier: documentation, photos, codes, quantities, unmet specifications.

• Monitoring the implementation of immediate and long-term actions by the supplier.

• Verification of the effectiveness of the actions (measurement, analysis, reports) and closure of the complaint.

2. Supplier performance monitoring

  • Setting and tracking quality indicators for suppliers (e.g., defects per million, response time, number of repeated complaints).
  • Preparation of periodic reports (monthly, quarterly) on supplier performance.
  • Collaboration with the procurement department for the evaluation/reevaluation of suppliers based on their performance.
  • Conducting supplier audits in accordance with the conditions stated in the commercial collaboration contracts.

3. Supplier qualification/validation activities

  • Participation in (or coordination of) audits (supplier entry, process, system).
  • Assessing the supplier’s process capabilities, performing risk analysis, and contributing to supplier approval/reevaluation.

4. Internal collaboration and improvement

  • Working closely with the production, incoming inspection, and workshop departments to prevent the recurrence of supplier nonconformities.
  • Proposing preventive or improvement measures for the supply flow, specifications, and incoming inspection control.
  • Contribution to procedures, work instructions, and internal standards regarding supplier relations and complaint management.

5. Reporting and collaboration relationships

  • Reports to: Head of Quality Department (or Quality Manager).
  • Collaborates with: Procurement/Supply Chain Department, Production Department, Incoming Inspection, Mechanical/Electrical Workshops, Design/Engineering, Logistics.
  • External interactions with: suppliers (quality, production, management).

Candidate profile

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

  • Technical university degree (mechanical, industrial, machine engineering, etc.);

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in supplier quality, incoming quality, or incoming inspection within a manufacturing/automotive company;

  • Knowledge of quality management systems: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 16949, AS 9100 (advantage), ISO 19011.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to read technical drawings, geometric tolerances, etc.;

  • Knowledge of root-cause investigation and corrective/preventive action methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa, FMEA, etc.);

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with suppliers; ability to collaborate cross-functionally;

  • Ability to analyze quality data, indicators, and reports;

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., ASIS, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Navision) for quality management and complaint handling workflows;

  • English language – intermediate/advanced level; other foreign languages are an advantage;

  • Availability for occasional travel to suppliers (e.g., audits).

Technical Requirements and Support

  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand specifications, tolerances, and manufacturing processes for components;

  • Use of analysis tools (5Why, Ishikawa, 8D, FMEA) for root-cause investigation, according to commercial contract conditions and supplier manuals;

  • Use of internal systems/ERP for logging complaints and monitoring corrective actions.
