Certified WORLD RECORD. We produced the first ambulance for highly contagious patients
Well, the news is not necessarily new – the highly contagious patient transport ambulance was launched as a prototype in the 2015 edition of Europe’s most prestigious event in our area of expertise – Interschutz – being at that time specially built for use in stopping the Ebola epidemic. In the current context, of the new COVID-19 virus, our special vehicle is currently enjoying the full attention of big media trusts. For this reason, we decided to make a presentation as comprehensive as possible here, on our website, which can also function as an official statement.
UPDATE: The result of our efforts in the fight with the most dangerous viral threats and the limitations of a system currently overwhelmed by the situation, was included in the list of the most recent performances, as a record in our area of expertise. The initiative belonged to the representatives of the World Record Academy, which we thank for the interest and the help given in transmitting our message worldwide.

The truck is built on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, with 4 × 4 modified traction, and designed to successfully cope with any viral threat, such as Ebola, tuberculosis, yellow fever, flu or coronavirus.
The ambulance dedicated to the transport of highly contagious patients incorporates special materials and state-of-the-art technologies, designed to prevent the spread of pathogens and to ensure the protection of the medical personnel who handle the case of such a patient. Stainless steel interior lining, which allows the use of the most powerful disinfectants, the integrated HEPA filter system and the device that produces negative pressure inside the ambulance, thus preventing the release of the pathogen outside, are just a few of the elements that could it gave the rescuers a remarkable advantage in this battle with an opponent whom we still know too little about.
In addition to this extremely important functionality, still rarely encountered in the industry, the ambulance also incorporates our multiple victims transport system, which gives it a multi-role character. Thus, it can function as a huge islet, transporting up to 10 rescuers at the site of an incident, and can take up to 8 patients at a time – in various configurations – with the sole condition that all are infected with the same virus strain. The ambulance can also be used to transport 2 patients on strollers, respectively a patient in a hospital bed. The constructive solution allows, by a minimum adaptation, including the installation of a winch to facilitate the loading of an morbidly obese patient, on a specially constructed trolley for this type of patients.
Although it is specially designed for transport, the ambulance can be used for more serious cases, being equipped with a defibrillator and a mechanical ventilator, but also with a monitor to track vital signs of patients. Inside, a sterile environment similar to an operating room is created, and an extraordinary advantage of this bodywork is the very short time in which the ambulance becomes operational from one case to another, by completely disinfecting the passenger compartment. Thus, within a maximum of 30 seconds, all pathogens in the air and on the surfaces are destroyed, take a complete decontamination cycle is done in about 5 minutes, and it can be completed even with the patient inside.
The base chassis is a Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 of 3 liters and 184 hp, with off-road capabilities superior to the standard ones, thanks to a change of traction (non-permanent integral). The maximum authorized total mass of the ambulance is 4500 kg.
